impressions of my day

This morning (6:33 am) I was 3 minutes late for my bus. And as I had to wait for the next one about 15 minutes I decided to walk. It was such a beautiful mild and fresh morning I couldn't help but take some pictures with my cell phone camera. It's not the best quality but if you try you can feel the awakening of nature and the awakening of the day.
The first one is blurry, but that way you can better see the morning colors.
The next one shows some of the beautiful old houses we have here in Wiesbaden. When I was young I always thought Wiesbaden is boring; but later I took a closer look on the houses…
We had cold and rainy weather during the last couple weeks, so I am really surprised that even so the flowers came out. It’s just like they were waiting for the first sunrays and then burst out. But they’re still sleeping between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning. Can you see it? (click to enlarge) The lil heads are still closed.Later in the afternoon I went to meet Fran; she took me to her hairdresser. Those who read my blog know that I am afraid of those guys, since two of them “ruined” my hairdo. So Fran said I need to meet with her hairdresser. She never goes somewhere else.

When I was waiting for the bus to get downtown, I noticed that beautiful princess and her mother. I don’t know her, but she was so delightful, I took some pictures. She was sitting on her mother’s legs and didn’t stop tickling the lady next to her she didn’t know at all. And she had so much fun by doing so!
Later she was like daydreaming and had a pretty serious face… so cute. Finally she kissed her mommy goodbye and went with someone else (I think it was was her daddy).

…for even more snow?

When we looked out of the window this morning, we could see this (front yard)and backyard When I left for work, nobody else had set a foot in the snow in front of the houseeverything had a little “snow hat”

and later the snowflakes were so big, you can even see it on a movie taken with my “cheap” cell-phone camera.

Here in Wiesbaden we are not used to such a long, cold winter with snow here and then.

Today I grabbed my camera, when I left to go to PT. The institute is around 800 m (1/2 mile) away and I found soooo many great places to take pictures as I walked there and back home...

I came into my kitchen 2 days ago and found those rainbows outside... Unfortunately the 2nd one is hard to see; you really have to look closely to detect it.

day trip to Edersee

A week ago Sonja asked Patricia, Bernard and me if we'd like to join her on a trip to Edersee.

Edersee is an artificial lake near Kassel and as we had not so much rain in that area this year the water outflow was more than the water inflow. The water level now is so low that parts of the villages which were flooded years ago now poke out of the water.
You can see foundation walls of houses, parts of a bridge, cemeteries etc. They call it Edersee-Atlantis.

We started yesterday at 10 am and had to drive about 2 1/2 hours (actually, but there was a lot of construction on the road and we had to detour a lot). We arrived at the lake around 1:15 pm. We walked through the lake (hee hee) to get to a hill. Usually that hill is an island surrounded by water. Sonja told me that the last time she was there she had to take a boat and paddle over.

We really had a good time and were lucky with the weather: it was cloudy but it only rained some drops two or three times. I arrived at home around 7:30 pm, tired but happy.

sunday visits

Last sunday (25th) after church my mother and I were invited by some friends for lunch. It was really interesting for both of us because my mom fell in love to Max, one of the cats our friends have at home. He is really beautiful and so cuddly.

The afternoon was also very special to me because Sonja has a horse - Santiago - and I've never seen it before. It's a long time ago, anyways, that I've seen a horse so close but I actually like horses very much!
Santiago has back problems and she couldn't ride him for several weeks but she has to move him anyhow. So we went for a walk through the vineyards after Sonja had cleaned his stall (she showed me how to groom Santiago meanwhile) and when we got back from the walk she had to longe him for 40 more minutes. I had so much fun watching!

What I really miss at home is to step out of the house and standing in front of a forest - like I did in Gemünden. I' m a morning person and so I went out walking between 7 and 8 before breakfast and I took my bible, had a little break (I found a bank where I could sit down) and had a real quiet time. Only "disturbed" by twitter of the birds. That I can't do at home - in a big city...

Something else:

• walking through the fields, the only sound you can hear is the wind or a small sporting airplane
• discovering water lillies on a little pond
• a dead looking toad in the same pond
• a dragonfly passing my head (some wouldn't like that part...)
• foxgloves beside the path
• a swimmingpool in front of the house and not to forget:
• having a great time with real friends from the christian family - fellowship

Easter Monday Trip

Today Sigi, Klaus and I went to Trippstadt area (near Kaiserslautern) to hike. We had wonderful weather and a lot of fun!

I am always fascinated in spring watching the awakening of nature. I can't help thanking God that he created something so beautiful like flowers, grass, trees... and the sound of a rippling creek... Click the video and listen!

Aaaaaand: surprise! We do have really BIG trees here in Germany (we call it mammoth trees, it's like Redwood for the US)! Not far away from Landstuhl (Pfalz).
