impressions of my day

This morning (6:33 am) I was 3 minutes late for my bus. And as I had to wait for the next one about 15 minutes I decided to walk. It was such a beautiful mild and fresh morning I couldn't help but take some pictures with my cell phone camera. It's not the best quality but if you try you can feel the awakening of nature and the awakening of the day. DSC00766
The first one is blurry, but that way you can better see the morning colors.
The next one shows some of the beautiful old houses we have here in Wiesbaden. DSC00768-2When I was young I always thought Wiesbaden is boring; but later I took a closer look on the houses…
We had cold and rainy weather during the last couple weeks, so I am really surprised that even so the flowers came out. It’s just like they were waiting for the first sunrays and then burst out. But they’re still sleeping between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning. Can you see it? (click to enlarge) The lil heads are still closed.DSC00770Later in the afternoon I went to meet Fran; she took me to her hairdresser. Those who read my blog know that I am afraid of those guys, since two of them “ruined” my hairdo. So Fran said I need to meet with her hairdresser. She never goes somewhere else.

DSC00774When I was waiting for the bus to get downtown, I noticed that beautiful princess and her mother. I don’t know her, but she was so delightful, I took some pictures. She was sitting on her mother’s legs and didn’t stop tickling the lady next to her she didn’t know at all. And she had so much fun by doing so!
Later she was like daydreaming and had a pretty serious face… so cute. Finally she kissed her mommy goodbye and went with someone else (I think it was was her daddy).

MyZeil

A new fancy shopping center "MyZeil" opened February 26th in Frankfurt/Main. The funny thing is: we have a "new" shopping center in Wiesbaden (Luisenforum, opened Fall 2008) but I haven't yet seen all of it's parts. I just went to three different shops there (entrance area and basement).

But I went to Frankfurt only 4 days after the grand opening of "MyZeil" - I met with Chrisch to see Michal W. Smith who was in Frankfurt that night to promote his new DVD "A new Hallelujah". Before we went to that place, we decided to have a coffee in one of the MyZeil's coffee shops. There is one huge escalator we took, it goes straight from first floor up to level 4 (that way you have no chance to miss or "escape" the restaurant area). The way back down was not so comfortable - a lot of small escalators you had to take. And as it was the first week after the opening probably everyone wanted to go there. Have you ever been lined up for taking an escalator?

That's how I came to see all levels of the Frankfurt shopping center but only a very small part of the shopping center of my hometown.

This is a video of the opening of MyZeil center. I still don't know if there's a meaning of the big hole built of glass that goes through the center. It reminds me of a wormhole. Not the properly meaning of a wormhole. Just like the hole of a worm.

and later the snowflakes were so big, you can even see it on a movie taken with my “cheap” cell-phone camera.

Here in Wiesbaden we are not used to such a long, cold winter with snow here and then.

Same Places 24 Hours Later...

Just to give you an idea, why I was so exited to have the sun outside last time; this is a normal (foggy, clammy, gray) fall day in Wiesbaden...

If Fall is like Today...

... I'm LOVING it!!!

Created with Admarket's flickrSLiDR.

Today I grabbed my camera, when I left to go to PT. The institute is around 800 m (1/2 mile) away and I found soooo many great places to take pictures as I walked there and back home...

Easter Sunday Miracle

When I heard the weather would be wonderful this Sunday I wished I could go out somewhere because I LOVE spring!!! All the trees and flowers blooming... and the last days were like nature "exploded" and wanted to show all it has to give...

So it was a big surprise for me today when I saw
Mario (from Karlsruhe) and Tonia (from Belgium)

today in church in WIESBADEN! They were travelling around and I asked them if they would like to see some special places in Wiesbaden.

So we went to Neroberg and rode the Nerobergbahn up to the top of Neroberg,

had a beautiful view over Wiesbaden and Mainz,

went on to see the Griechische Kapelle (Russische Kapelle),

had iceream and coffee at the Opelbad-Café (but we didn't swim :-)!)

and went back to ride the Nerobergbahn down. I took SO many pictures... (see more here) - what a beautiful day!!!

wiesbaden @ night during advent - time

Tuesday evening I attended a concert at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden (titled "Christmas in Europe"). A professional choir sang songs from Lithuania, Poland, Spain, France and - of course - Germany. An anchorman read stories about the traditional christmas of each country before we listened to the singing. Famous conductors of Lithuania, Poland and Spain directed the songs of their countries... it was GREAT! But this is actually not the event I want to talk about...

When I approached the building before the concert started I was so impressed - I totally forgot how nice it looks in the dark! I thought it would be cool to show it to some friends, who are not from this area.
I wanted to meet with Antje, Wioletta and Luca on Saturday, anyways, and we had already planned to go to the Wiesbaden Christmas Market, which is not far away from the Kurhaus. I also asked JR and Steve, if they liked to join us. So we met yesterday afternoon at my place.
At the time, we wanted to go, it was raining, so I was a bit disappointed (because I wanted to present "my" town in its best condition...). Anyway, we left at 8.00 p.m. to see the Kurhaus, first. And let me tell you - after we had seen everything we wanted, we went to the Christmas Market. And as soon, as we entered the place, it stopped raining! And again a bad thing (that kind'a long-term-rain) turned out to be a benefit. Why? Usually the Christmas Market is totally crowded on saturday evenings... but people don't like to go out at a rainy evenings. So we had much more space to move and so much fun! See the pictures:
