grace

a shower shelf that is coming off because its foot is totally rusted while standing in the shower so you can catch it and it wouldn't make much more mess

catching a bus that is already considered missed

having files on my desk that are easy to handle so that the work of a full day is done in only 4 hrs

only having that much (lesser) pain to be motivated enough to clean up the house on a Friday afternoon

a lazy weekend ahead with no duties to carry (after appartment is cleaned up)

having a mom living nearby who can quickly get over to borrow some needed knitting needles

knowing that there was so much more to write down to continue that list

need your help

This year all these biiig, well, huuuuuge sunglasses are all the rage. I mean EVERYONE wears them.

I always say it looks like "Pook, the housefly"... plus, I think I can not wear sunglasses like that.

But I needed one and so I gave it a try. If you promise, not to laugh too hard at me, scroll down to the bottom of this post and check my picture.
And tell me if I should better take them off, if it is "ok" or if it is celebrity-ish :-)
Thanks!

July 2009 Update

Just back for a short note: I read the bible in 90 days (ok, I finished Maleachi last Sunday morning and Revelation Sunday night - it was actually Monday morning 0:15 that was "day" 92) and I had to finish Psalms and Ecclesiastes, so that I finished ALL Wednesday evening.
It was a hard job and not much time was left for much more else, but I am glad I accomplished that goal. It really was a blessing.

I had to work VERY much this past week, as I wanted to finish all my projects before I leave to the Netherlands for one week next Monday and I had to act in place of two colleagues last Monday through Wednesday, whew!
Now I need to clean up my appartment because my mom will stay here for cat sitting and I need to pack. I feel like Allison, sooo much to share and so little time to record...

Have you all a wonderful weekend!

manches ändert sich wohl nie

Some things probably never change….

This is the editorial of a computer magazine I saw this morning waiting for the doctor to call me in. DSC00748

I had to go to the doctor again since my cold - sore throat, no voice - was much better on Thursday but it kinda hit me worse than before over the weekend. I am having sinus-headache and you do not want to know what comes out of my nose. I told the doctor there must be secretly hidden antra in my head to produce those quantities of snot. But I don’t want to spoil your appetite. So back to the editorial.

It talks about how you can tune up your windows operating system so that it runs faster and much more stable. And I remember that there were exact the same articles to find in pc-magazines at least ten years ago. During the last 15 (?) years. The only thing that changed is Windows 98 /2000 / XP / Vista.

who has placed the order

…for even more snow?
When we looked out of the window this morning,09 02 16 009 we could see this (front yard)09 02 16 010and backyard09 02 16 004 09 02 16 003When I left for work, nobody else had set a foot in the snow in front of the house09 02 16 002everything had a little “snow hat”

and later the snowflakes were so big, you can even see it on a movie taken with my “cheap” cell-phone camera.

Here in Wiesbaden we are not used to such a long, cold winter with snow here and then.

bad hair day

or
a very bad day for my hair

When my hair is shorter I need a haircut more often than when it's longer. I didn't want to spend much money and in particular I didn't want to have an entire new look so I thought is was an easy job which could be done in a rush.

So today it is just a week ago when I was on my way home from work passing by a barbershop that I decided on the spur of the moment to go and have my hair trimmed just a little. This special chain store attracts customers by low prices (11 euro) plus you don't have to call for an appointment. Just go in and have your hair cut. I have been there 2 or 3 times before and they didn't do an excellent job but it was ok.

This time it was different. While the lady was cutting my hair I felt something was wrong and when she was finished the result was not what I had asked for. We had a discussion about it and she called her boss. After another discussion, when they tried to tell me the way I wanted to have my hair cut was absolutely unworkable (which was really interesting because I have seen other women have their hair cut that way I wanted it) the boss said, she would try it. While she gave it the second try I could sense she was really galled and a foreboding gave me the creeps... When she was done I had an absolutely foozled crop.

I came home and couldn't help but cry. I called another shop to have an "emergency appointment" 2 hours later and the lady there started "LOL-ed/ROFL-ed" when she started to fix my haircut. It was SO embarrassing - but it showed me, that I wasn't hysterical! This lady gave all her best and now I feel at least I can appear before the public without being laughed at.

When I came to work the next day people were super friendly to me and gave a positive feedback so that I am starting to cotton up to my new look...

some quotes I was thinking about today

In times we don't feel God but keep trusting Him (because He only wants the best for us), we honor Him the most.

We always should do our best but then leave some space for a miracle to happen.

Nobody is able to hurt you until you allow him or her to hurt you.

time flies

It's a while ago that I did write a word here.

One reason is I was so busy at work that I was extremely tired when I came home. I had no power and energy to do anything else than going straightly to my couch and taking a pre-evening nap. I also think there wasn't too much "exciting" to share...
It ended up that 3 weeks ago I had one of the worst influenzal infection I can remember and the doctor, who came for a house visit, diagnosed a pneumonia additionally.

But during that time - the three last weeks - there was a lot going on in my life - although it was probably small in somebody elses eyes... I could clearly see how my heavenly father was putting each single piece together. The summit of all was the last weekend and to make a long story a little better to read I will split it up and will come back later.

One Year and One Week...

... ago, I had my first post up here at blogspot. It grew to a sum of 85 over the year. That doesn't make me a power blogger but I've never thought it would be that much anyway.

Thanks to all who stopped by to read a little bit along and HOORAY to all who left a comment (147 all in all)! It's you who are making the whole stuff much more interesting!
I actually met some very nice blogger friends and one of them asked me to be facebook buddies, so we are since last week! Thanks a lot for the invitation, you are someone special

And now let's see what the last days of 2007 have in store for us... talk to you later
