bad hair day

or
a very bad day for my hair

When my hair is shorter I need a haircut more often than when it's longer. I didn't want to spend much money and in particular I didn't want to have an entire new look so I thought is was an easy job which could be done in a rush.

So today it is just a week ago when I was on my way home from work passing by a barbershop that I decided on the spur of the moment to go and have my hair trimmed just a little. This special chain store attracts customers by low prices (11 euro) plus you don't have to call for an appointment. Just go in and have your hair cut. I have been there 2 or 3 times before and they didn't do an excellent job but it was ok.

This time it was different. While the lady was cutting my hair I felt something was wrong and when she was finished the result was not what I had asked for. We had a discussion about it and she called her boss. After another discussion, when they tried to tell me the way I wanted to have my hair cut was absolutely unworkable (which was really interesting because I have seen other women have their hair cut that way I wanted it) the boss said, she would try it. While she gave it the second try I could sense she was really galled and a foreboding gave me the creeps... When she was done I had an absolutely foozled crop.

I came home and couldn't help but cry. I called another shop to have an "emergency appointment" 2 hours later and the lady there started "LOL-ed/ROFL-ed" when she started to fix my haircut. It was SO embarrassing - but it showed me, that I wasn't hysterical! This lady gave all her best and now I feel at least I can appear before the public without being laughed at.

When I came to work the next day people were super friendly to me and gave a positive feedback so that I am starting to cotton up to my new look...

tina, you look SO cute! the hair is really flattering on you. I know what you mean about those walk-in salons--we had one just below our apartment in Dresden and it really depended on who "happened" (because I couldn't make an appointment with a certain girl--I tried!) to be assigned to me. I left there loving my hair a couple times, and a couple times not so much...!

anyway, glad you got it fixed enough for you to feel good in it. I would never guess you only got it cut like that to cover up many mistakes!

I have had some bad experiences with the walk-in salons in the states. I am to the point where I would rather just not have it cut than risk it.

Glad someone was able to fix it and I think it looks really cute!!

That was drastic, but it works! Looks great on you--nice and sassy! It works with the glasses.

Last time I had mine cut in a shop, I got a stylist who was annoyed from another customer and who ended up taking out on ME. Not fun. I've not been back to a shop in three and a half years. I taught my daughter to cut hair instead! I *might* try again soon, though, I'm in need of a change too!

Well, Tina you hair should be starting to grow out a little by now. I surely hope you had encouargement during that time, it seems things started that way at your work.

When I went into the Army way back when I had fairly long hair (not over my ears). It got cut short very shortly by an Army barber.

Another time in basic training I went to go to the PX to get it cut again. When I got back to the unit my sargeant said it wasn't short enough. So I went back to tell the barber. He got 'galled' about it and cut if very, very short and left ridges across the top.
It was bad but now passed the inspection. Had I gone to a different barber and paid 35 cents again I could have looked nice then. I am glad you went to someone you trusted who could make you look better.
Thank you for sharing this. I am hoping and praying that you will be able to work now from now on as you wish to do,
