DAILY VERSE
After fasting forty days and forty nights, He was hungry.
Matthew 4:2
DAILY QUOTE
Christian fasting, at its root, is the hunger of a homesickness for God.
John Piper
DAILY THOUGHT
Prayer should be as natural as breathing in and out, a seamless part of our everyday lives. But many of us also find that pulling away for a time of focused prayer is incredibly beneficial. Reading a short devotion and then having a brief time of prayer is part of morning preparation for many Christians, and some go on retreats to spend an entire weekend in prayer. There is another special practice that has been used with prayer through the centuries. The discipline of fasting is modeled for us by Jesus Christ Himself. (See Matthew 4:1–11 for the account of Jesus fasting in the wilderness.) Fasting is the choice to give something up—usually food—in order to focus all our attentions and energies on communing with God. Many have sought prayer and fasting when an urgent need arises. For Jesus, facing the beginning of His ministry, a forty-day fast provided a way to face every temptation that Satan would throw His way in the years to come.
Is there an urgent need in your life? In your family? Your church? Your business? Consider a time of prayer and fasting to lay your heart bare before God and find His will and answers for you.
Lord Jesus, teach me to fast in a way that brings me closer to You. Amen.

Hi Tina, I like your new template. I think it is orange. :)
Thank you for the update, I am glad you are able to be working more and more now. I am praying that this knee will now hold you steadily for a long, long time.
I know that fasting helps us consecrate on our prayer and on word from God. I have never fasted but those I know who have fast repeat on occasion.
Also thank you for the tip on little Noah. She is a precious child. It sounds as if she could be coming home soon.
The right side of my heart is not developed and it has lasted for a nice lifetime. She has much more severe problems with the left side having HLHS because of the valves, etc. But if the rest of hers gets mended there should be not so great a problem. Our prayers will help her greatly.

My link was one of those that got lost. Thank you for finding me. I have not changed my blog to the New Blogger because I am afraid something will get lost in the process of changing. ;)
